Meet the Characters
of Tawny Owl Wood
At Tawny Owl Wood, we celebrate diversity! Our characters come from all walks of life, representing different shapes, sizes, colors, abilities, and disabilities. To us, everyone is perfect and belongs in our stories.
The human characters in Tawny Owl Wood
Alfie
Alfie is the baby of his siblings, he starts his journey as a toddler at 3 years old. He was born with a lazy eye which needed two brow suspension lifts. He is very active, cheeky and full of beans.
Emilia
Emilia begins her journey in Tawny Owl Wood at the age of 9 years old. She is the inspiration behind the series and since the age of 15yrs she has helped me create the storylines you see before you.
Cameron
Cameron is the second eldest out of his siblings. He starts his journey at 13 years old. He’s football crazy, very active and always looking to cause mischief!
Jay
Jay is the eldest out of his siblings. He is 15 years old at the start of the books.
Mummy
Mummy is based on Louise (myself). I have been able to include some of my own life issues within the stories, as well as my imagination for magic instilled in me by my Grandmother, Betty.
Dad
This is Dad, he is based on my husband, Phil. He is very often with me when we attend the many shows we do over the years. Without his support and encouragement, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Fairy characters in Tawny Owl Wood
Azalea
This is Azalea, she is from Japan. She is Head Watcher Fairy along with Camellia. She is very calming and patient with everyone in Tawny Owl Wood. She is very calm in a crisis.
Belladonna
This is Belladonna. He is Indian and is a Medical/Hospital Fairy. He is married to Basil and wears the bindi spot to proudly show this.
Bramble
This is Bramble. He is in a wheelchair that Thymus and Helleborus have made. He has olive coloured skin. Although he has a poorly leg and wings, which means he is unable to walk or fly, he has a really positive and can do attitude.
Butterbur
This is Butterbur. He comes from Scotland. He is a Medical/Hospital Fairy. He’s very proactive and rushes to everyone’s aid.
Camellia
This is Camellia, she is a Head Watcher Fairy., along with Azalea. She is Latino and loves to dance. She oversees all the watcher fairies and makes very important decisions round Tawny Owl Wood.
Clover
This is Clover. She is a Family Helper Fairy. She looks after the family of Squirrels. She has a rare birth defect called Phocomelia. She has freckles and ginger hair.
Crocus
Crocus is one of the Watcher Fairies. She is married to Viola who is also another Watcher Fairy. They help to oversee the care of the woodland and animals.
Fuchsia
This is Fuchsia. She is a Family Helper Fairy. She looks after the Longears Family.
Hebe
This is Hebe, she is a Watcher Fairy. Hebe is dyslexic. She is very active and creative.
Helleborus
This is Helleborus. He comes from Ireland. He is a Watcher Fairy but he has a special talent. He makes all the contraptions in Tawny Owl Wood and fixes everything that is broken. He can almost always be found in the kitchen, eating Grandmother Fairy’s delicious food. He works with Thymus.
Holly and Hollyhock
This pair of fairies are brother and sister twins. Holly and Hollyhock. Hollyhock has Tourette’s. They cause all sorts of trouble in Tawny Owl Wood. They are a mischievous pair.
Iris
This is Iris. She comes from Siberian and is always dressed for Winter in her cosy knitted jumper. She looks after all the birds in Tawny Owl Wood. She is a Family Helper Fairy.
Marigold
This is Marigold. She is a Family Helper Fairy. She looks after the family of Prickles. Marigold always wears her hair in side plaits and also wears glasses.
Reed
This is Reed. He is one of the Medical/Hospital Fairies. He has low self esteem and can have sudden anxiety attacks. He loves to paint as it helps him keep calm and rebalance himself.
Thymus
This is Thymus, he comes from Scotland. He is a Watcher Fairy but he has a special talent. He makes all the contraptions in Tawny Owl Wood and fixes everything that is broken. He can almost always be found in the kitchen, eating Grandmother Fairy’s delicious food. He works with Helleborus.
Viola
Viola is one of the Watcher Fairies. She is married to Crocus who is another Watcher Fairy. She proudly wears the LGBTQ+ colours. They help to oversee the care of the woodland and animals.

This is Tulipa, she is a Family Helper Fairy, she looks after all the insects. Tulipa is deaf. but she feels the vibrations from the insects.
Delphinium
This is Delphinium, she is an Autumn Fairy. She helps prepare the woodland and animals for Autumn
Ginger
This is Ginger, he is an Autumn Fairy. He helps prepare the woodland and animals for Autumn. He also loves to help Yarrow with knitting all the blankets, mittens and ear warmers.

This is Buddleia, they are a younger fairy in the nursey. Buddleia is non binary.
Sage

Yarrow
This is Yarrow, he is an Autumn Fairy. He helps prepare the woodland and animals for Autumn. He loves to teach all the fairies how to knit.
The Animal characters in Tawny Owl Wood
Toffee
Toffee was our first dog, he was a standard labradoodle.
Hunter
Hunter is our second dog. He’s very active and very cheeky
Lexi
Lexi is our third dog. She is a rescue dog. Don’t be fooled by her innocent looks, she’s trouble but in a cheeky way.
