Gardening & Outdoor Safety Tips
Check the Weather – Weather can be unpredictable, so monitor forecasts and consider a weather app to stay prepared.
Dress for Mess – Wear old, washable clothes and sturdy footwear like rubber boots. Gardening gloves are a must for all ages.
Use the Right Tools – Child-sized tools like rakes, trowels, and watering cans make gardening fun and safe while teaching responsibility.
Know Plant Safety – Teach children to identify edible vs. toxic plants with a handbook or plant ID app. Always wash produce before eating.
Check for Hazards – Scan the area for sharp objects, animal waste, or hidden dangers before gardening.
Go Organic – Avoid chemical sprays to protect both people and wildlife.
Mind Allergies – Watch for sneezing, itching, or rashes. Change clothes and rinse off after gardening to reduce exposure.
Sun Protection – Wear hats, sunscreen, and stay hydrated, even on cool days.
Tawny Owl Wood is not responsible for injury or damage. Always check local guidelines before exploring public spaces.
